Har-Ki-Doon is a cradle shaped valley south east of the Janundhar glacier.It is surrounded by snow-covered peaks and in the southeast by heavily wooded forests.The forests are rich in wildlife and are a veritable paradise for bird-watchers and nature lovers.
Har - Ki - Doon is situated in the Western ganges of the Garhwal Himalayas, at the base of the Fateh Parvat, at an elevation of 3,556 metres. This cradle shaped Valley, which is surrounded by dense forests of pines and glittering mountain peaks
The forests are rich in wildlife and are a veritable paradise for bird-watchers and nature lovers. The trek from Netwar to Osla is through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts, willows and chinars. The trek from Osla to Har-ki-doon is through terraced mountain fields, lush green grassy land and conifer forests.
Har-Ki-Doon , the hanging valley of gods is a treat for trekkers. This moderate trek takes you to one of the least explored regions of Garhwal. As Har-KI-Doon falls within the Govind Pashu vihar , chances of seeing wildlife here are very bright. Here , you have a beautifully carved temple dedicated to Duryodhana , the Kaurava Prince. And if you are interested in glaciers then Jaundhar Glacier at 4300 mt. is just about five kilometers from Har-Ki- Doon.
Har-Ki-Doon Valley is a base for Swargarohini ht. 21000 ft. There is legend our old granth (books) it is mentioned that Pandav went to Swarga (Heavan) through this mountain. This is a place where you can find Trees of Bhojpatra flower Bramhakamal. Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier is at south-east of Har-ki-dun.Towards west you can see Bandar Punch.
The local People survives on farming Rice, Rajma, Charas. They use wood of Deodar tree for their house. You can find many people using Hukka for smoking. One can smell of pine while having hukka.
Detailed Tour Itinerary
Day 01 : Delhi/ Hardwar(200 kms.Drive)
Early morning drive to Hardwar, day at leisure to explore this holy town visit the 'Arti' holy ceremony performance at the river Ghat (Har ki Pauri) at sun set. O/N at the hotel.
Day02 : Haridwar / Sankri(240 Km.)
Early morning drive to Sankri, this is the last village which is connect by the motorable road. O/N in guest house.
Day 03 : Sankri / Taluka(12 Km.Trek)
Morning after breakfast start trek to Taluka, is located at the 1900Mtrs. Next to the Har-Ki-Doon river amidst beautiful forest. O/n in Camp.
Day 04 : Taluka / Osla (12 Km.)
Morning after breakfast trek to Osla, begin the trek a gradual ascent brigs you to the picturesque Osla village along the swift rivulet. O/N in Camp.
Day 05 : Osla /Har-Ki Doon (11 Km.)
morning after breakfast climb to the higher reaches of the mountains to reach Har-Ki-Doon (3566 Mtrs.) the beautiful valley of Gods. O/N in Camp.
Day 06 : Har-Ki-Doon
Day at leisure to explore the surroundings. O/N in Camp
Day 07 : Har-Ki-Doon / Osla
Trace the route back to Osla. O/N in Camp.
Day 08 : Osla /Taluka
Morning after breakfast trek to Taluka. O/N in Camp.
Day 09 : Taluka/ Sankri
Morning after breakfast trek to Sankri. O/N in Camp.
Day 10 : Sankri / Mussoorie
Drive down to the hill station Mussoorie over looking the Doon Valley enroute visit Lakha Mandal- a site associated with the heroes of Epic 'Mhabharata'- there is an ancient temple and cave formations which are of interest. O/n in hotel at Mussoorie.
Day 11 : Mussorie / Delhi (270 Km.)
Day at leisure to explore the town, after lunch proceed to Delhi.
